Her love of making business decisions based on numbers and data shows through in her passionate commitment to Valorium Advisors as a business and to the team.
As a qualified Charted Accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce, Marika lives by the adage ‘If you have the courage to start, you have the courage to succeed’ as she balances her passion for numbers with her other roles as a wife and Mum.
Whilst much of her time is spent looking after her clients’ businesses, she also ensures that her own business continuous improvement isn’t forgotten. She wants to make sure the team are proactive with the services they offer and stay up to date with everything tax related.
Her favourite things about working at Valorium are her clients and teammates. Marika believes a great working environment stems from having flexibility within the workplace.
The one tip she gives to all her clients is that ‘a valuable and consistent relationship between accountant and client is crucial for a successful business.’
Outside of work, running is like meditating for Marika. When she’s not in the office giving her expert advice to clients you will find her exercising, spending time with her family or doing some sort of water sport – stand up paddle boarding, boating or jet skiing.
Core to Marika’s personal values is her drive to give back to the charitable organisations’ that have supported her in the past. Marika donates both time and money to Red Nose, a local not-for-profit that supported her and her family following the loss of their first child.
And as of May 2022, Marika was appointed a Board member for Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW. She joins multiple other board members who play an important role in the organisation to support families of sick kids.
The chocolate-lover thinks Julia Roberts would be the ideal actor to play her in a movie about her life, which is tentatively titled Working Mum. Although if she could watch one movie for the rest of her life it would be Love Actually.
